Identify Hazardous Substances
Recognize common chemical, physical, and biological hazards found on hazardous waste sites, and understand how they contribute to overall site risk.
Apply Site Control & Communication Procedures
Understand zone layouts, boundaries, and communication practices—including the buddy system—to maintain safe operations.
Understand Exposure Routes & Health Effects
Explain how hazardous materials enter the body and distinguish between acute and chronic health effects.
Follow Decontamination Practices
Perform proper decon procedures to prevent exposure and cross-contamination of personnel, PPE, and equipment.
Select Appropriate PPE
Review PPE Levels A–D and choose the correct protective equipment based on the site’s hazard assessment.
Respond to Emergencies Safely
Recognize emergency levels, understand your role under the EAP/ERP, and follow safe spill and fire-response procedures.
