About 2.3 million workers in the United States are exposed to harmful levels of respirable crystalline silica while on the job. Because silica can be found in such a wide range of materials, workers across several different industries need to be aware of its effects and how to protect themselves.

In this training course we will talk about where crystalline silica is found and the negative effects brought on by overexposure to the material. We will also go over some of the ways that employers and workers can help limit exposure to silica on job sites.

Course overview
The purpose of this training is to attempt to prevent tragic illnesses caused by exposure to unsafe levels of silica while on the job. Compliance with OSHA standards can prevent a great number of illnesses and should be followed by all employees working around amounts of silica above the permissible exposure limit.

OSHA’s Construction Standard relating to silica safety is 29 CFR 1926.1153.
