Why should I take this course?

Powered industrial trucks, commonly called forklifts or lift trucks, are used in many industries, primarily to move materials.  They are mobile power-propelled trucks used to carry, push, pull, lift, stack or tier materials.
The hazards commonly associated with power industrial trucks vary depending on the type of forktruck that is used.  Each type of forklift has its own unique operating hazards and risks.  For example, operating an internal combustion powered forklift in confined spaces can create hazardous atmospheres containing carbon monoxide.  The environment and workplace also presents its on specific hazards with regards to forklift operations.

For example, retail establishments face greater challenges than other worksites in maintaining pedestrian safety.

In this course, we will examine each type of Powered industrial Truck and its unique operations along with different workplace conditions that can affect the safe operation of forklifts.
